Hey Oppo, I'll be doing a little write up on the Silverstone Driving School tomorrow (hint: it was fucking awesome) but in the meantime, would this be a good idea?
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Got a little taste of rally life now, and I'm interested in getting more into it. I've got some money put aside that could potentially go towards something like this.
Worthwhile investment or run for the hills? Let me know.
Rally Opel Manta for your time.

Who wouldn't want to own a rally car!? Do it!
Disclaimer: I have no idea if this is a good idea or not.

That's all the convincing I need! Going to see if my parents will put some money toward it for my birthday, then spend the rest on making it driveable again and renting a garage to store it in.
It's probably an awful idea but whatever, SKODA RALLY CAR FTW!

The temptation has arisen, but I need it as a daily driver!
A boy can dream though...

I say if you want to do it, go for it. But, keep in mind that it still is a costly hobby between fees to register for events, the maintenance of the car, tires, fuel, and various equipment you will have to buy.

Thanks for the heads up! Trying to gauge how much it will cost in the long run and whether or not I can carry on affording it.

To bad idea can be the best idea in disguise. You will not know that until you are drinking a beer with friends watching your project burn to the ground in the forest, and making new friends at the same time. This generates the phrase, "remember when we..." And ends with laughter and girls asking, "did that hurt?" If you did not bad idea at all, you would be bored at home wondering about everyone else's bad idea that hasn't gone wrong yet.

Well I don't know the costs in the UK (I assume that's where you live), but IIRC when my father was still co-driving they had a budget around €5k a year. And the car they had (the car is still running with the same driver) was a R5 GT Turbo, and it was reliable too.
